You can't, or at least not easily.
The problem is that the keyboard interface is different between the XT and
AT (and later) machines, and, of course, the portable has an XT type
keyboard which is built into the case (it's a flap that folds over the
screen). An upgrade is going to be difficult
Also, the monitor is certainly CGA only. There's no way of using (say) a
VGA card with it.
Quite apart from the fact that the machine should be kept original. After
all, it's one of the few portables for which a real techref is
available...
