Windows "upgrades" abort all the time, leaving all sorts of messes in
place. If you check your memory, you'll probably find something along
those lines. Don't worry, it happens with other operating systems.
When I upgrade Linux, it's always important to save several configuration
files. Then again, most commercial Linux documentation and even more
non-commercial Linux documentation tell me which ones.
