Sometimes you run into timing issues with old network cards which require
you to fiddle with the CPU timing parameters in the BIOS setup. Or the
card may have jumpers you can set to employ different wait states, but
with an old arcnet card its pretty doubtful. I use old Artisoft
NodeRunner cards (ethernet) which require you to set a special wait-state
in the soft-config in order for them to work on Pentium machines.
