I had one a long time ago, and I don't remember having to hook a cable to
the VCR. I think the red thingy acts as both a score light and a sensor. It
should have a suction cup and IIRC just stick it to the top right corner of
the TV screen.

The fighter pilot tape was the pack-in with the system. There was only
about 6 tapes total made. I see these things quite often though, in fact I
saw one several days ago. I believe it came out in '86.
