The "TI-99/4A" was derived from the following:

             TI: Texas Instruments, of Course.
             99: A cute little number based on the "9900" microprocessor,
which the computer had as the CPU.
             4: TI's first model computer - #4 - sounds cool, heh?
             A: The enhanced model of the "TI-99/4", which came out in 1981,
the 99/4 came out around 1978.
