Develcon Electronics was surplussing big power supplies a few years ago.
I got a 5v 60A, +/-12v 3.4A supply for cheap. ($30 comes to mind... I'm
not sure though.) I have no idea if they would still have any.

Still, that only addresses one of your points. :-(
