True, and that's mostly because X Window development sucks even more than
Microsoft Windows development, which really isn't a Linux fault per se.
There really isn't a good "open source" GUI alternative to Windows yet, so
the best approach for now is to emulate the Win32 API on top of Linux to
run legacy Win32 apps, and get to work on a nice clean simple GUI and GUI
API.

But, you're right, I find it much easier to sneak Linux into the server
side of a corporation than into the client/desktop side. Maybe if Java
performance and look+feel improve another order of magnitude, that won't
be as much of an issue.
ObCC: Has anybody heard of a personal computer called Simon (circa 1950)?
It was sold as kit plans, and cost about $300 to put together. I *really*
want to find a copy of those plans.
