As far as I can figure, every computer ever built has been a kluge,
adapting available hardware (_knowing_ better stuff would be
available before the design was done, but you've got to draw the line
somewhere). Price-point kluges I admit having a problem with -- the
single-RAM-chip cut that made the TRS-80 upper-case only, ignoring the
parallel port capability thet the support chips in the CoCo had from
day one, made me want to go to Fort Worth with a strangling cord when
those decision-makers were signing my paychecks.
