Wat king of PDP-8? And is thier really no chance of salvaging some of the
boards, even just to pull chips?

Halfway between a 68008 and a 68012.

Seriously, the 68010 is essentially a slightly upgraded 68000, to make
dealling with a MMU a little easier.

Bother Motorola for some databooks - they are quite good, and free.

Sure, but if you want to play with a M68K chipset, I would look into using
a 68020 - thet are cheap and are a little easier to interface to.
