I don't mean this one so I go...

That should have been clarified:

The len, all the glass bits, laser and sensor leave it be and often
they're all in one module. No problem removing the whole thing
if only taking the rails off.

Done that so many times just to clean off all the old grease and
relube to revive many cdrom drives ditto removing the spindle motors
to take shorts out.
