what is a 'stringy floppy'?

It's a tiny endless loop tape cartridge. IMS, they were made by Exatron.

I have a Structured Design SD20 PAL programmer that take these, so if you're
willing to sell a spare tape cartridge, I'd be much obliged.

The SD20 has PALASM software (and a simple text editor) built in, so you can
simply hook up a dumb terminal and do PAL development with no "computer".
It lets you save your source code on tape.
