That's what I would exactly do to any of my keyboards that had their
loose melted mushrooms heads rattling around inside...

Better use a self tapping screws for plastic use with rough pitch
than fine pitch and at very shallow screwlead that makes you screw
them in many revs? If not, they have weak holding power.

For cheapie PS/1 with broken snaps. I simply screw in thru that old
holes from bottom with self-tapping screws for plastic.

Don't tell me to swap for new $10 keyboard either! I touchtype all
the time and I have not found one that does similar job as this
bowing spring technologies in IBM keyboards.

Close second to this feel but tad mushy are on some laptop keyboards
that is not too stiff.
