How do I discharge a CRT again???

Ok, was this not good to do to my Mac before? When I got the new P/S
board, it came with some "fool-proof" instructions, including using a wire
with two alligator clamps to attach the blade of a long flat-head
screwdriver to ground. Wiggle...wiggle..wiggle......SSSSNNNNAAAAPPPP! And
all was safe....

My Mac Plus still works just fine; is there something built into the Mac
to take this kind of punishment? Or was that parts reconditioner hoping
I'd be back for some other new parts sooner than I would have been...
