Ummm... Sam, I don't know when the last time you were in a good howler of
a storm, but I don't know about the attic as a good place. Gets REAL
unpleasant if the roof peels off. And barns have real large, often flat
roofs! (seen 'Twister' lately? <G>)
Second floor maybe, out of the basement for sure...
