Well, if they go through mainstream channels, yes, they're hard to find. I
frequently see tubes of them at hamfests, however. How many will they really
need?
Also, there are a few companies that specialize in "obsolete" (read:
unmarketable, not unusable) chips and components...some of them buy new
old stock from long-forgotten corners of warehouses, others salvage them from
boards, clean them up, test them, and repackage them.
I really doubt they'll have any problems getting the components they need.
