Who invented the first "clamshell" laptop?

By "clamshell" if you mean the screen flips open, then the Tandy 200 *I
think* came before either of them, and was OEM'd by Kyocera. Zenith did OEM
the Tandy 600, which AFAIK was the first laptop with a built-in floppy drive.

Don't take my word for gospel, of course... ;-)
