The Notetaker was another of the bright ideas that sprang
from Xerox PARC. But like many others, including the mouse it sported, it was
commercialized by someone else. In this case, Adam Osborne.
The former writer and publisher had paid a visit to Xerox. "Everyone was very
open at
PARC, and he saw all the drawings and asked a few questions, and left not
saying
anything," explains Gwen Bell, curator of The Computer Museum. "And the result
was, a
year or so later, you saw the plans for the Osborne 1, and it was very much
like [the
Notetaker]."
