Setting-up AppleTalk?

You have terminators in place on each end of the line, correct?

Hmmm, what version of MacOS is the Mac running, and I think you need to
specify the printer is a localtalk printer. I run Appletalk, but it's over
ethernet, and the even my HP 5MP printer is attached to the Ethernet by a
Ethernet-to-Localtalk box, so I've not really had any problem.

Are you just trying to print, or are you trying to share drives? I've
never networked either of my Apple //gs's, so not sure what the
capabilities are.

If you're trying to share drives, you need to share a folder or a drive on
the Mac.
