Do you mean the thing that calculated the Mandelbrot set? That was in a
book called 'The Best of Byte'. It was a cardcage of microcontrollers
designed to output a single bit depending on which direction the pixel
they are processing tends to go. I think it's a very different problem
from anything that would likely be done with a network of real
computers.
