VaxStation 3100's

I picked up another 3100 today (in addition to one that I
picked up before without a drive in it). I'm looking for
information on getting these things working. The main things
I'm trying to figure out are:

Is it possible to run them without a display via the serial
port on the back?

Information on the 8 status LEDS on back of the unit. Perhaps
someone can point me to a web site that has some info on this.
