Well, I don't know exact numbers for the USA, but here a floor has
to handle at least 150 kg/m^2 (~40 lbs/sqft) for basic residential
housing (DIN 1045) as standard usage, and must not show any stress
when loaded with 1.75 times the weight. This is defined for the
whole area. For Industrial Buildings standard is set to 1000 kg/m^2
(~200 lbs/sqft) or higher, depending on the designated use. These
are numbers by law.
Since I assume a 29 story building had concrete floors, a usable
weight for this class of building inside a 20'x20' room should
include more than 15,000 lbs without any problem.
