I think the big thing with cylinder locks is
that one can't make a key from an impression.
Most regular locks leave marks in the lock tumbler, over
time. It is quite easy to make a new key from these marks
if you know what you are doing. As for normal
picking, I don't see why, with the proper tools,
a cylinder lock would be any harder that a regular
lock. That is unless it used other tricks like
the sliding bar type locks.
