If you send more replys via PM than to the list you may be right.
I'd still go for a 'least possible effort' rule - and my majority
of replys goes direct to the list. Shure, I also did sometimes miss
to change the To part (and I still apology therefore) but thats way
more rare than the other way.

(oh and note the 'serious' part you left out)
