AppleTalk on the hoof

You don't format the disk before you make a copy with Diskcopy. Diskcopy
accepts what is known as an "image file". After loading the image file, you
can insert a floppy and it will make a disk copy from that image, in
whatever "format" the image was.

After starting Diskcopy, if you insert a foreign diskette (such as when I
put a LisaTest diskette into the drive), the Mac may complain that it is not
a Macintosh disk, but you can select to "mount" it anyway. In any case, you
can copy that disk, or make a copy onto it, or make a hard drive file image
from from it.

The Mac "superdrive" should handle both 800K and 1.44 diskettes (although
I've only used Diskcopy to make a copy of an image on an external 800K drive
just to be safe).

This was all done on a Mac IIsi with 16mb and running system 7.5.
