In the case of NASA, I think it's true because some of the people I've
heard it from are NASA employees. This doesn't constitute "proof",
necessarily, but it seems somewhat credible.
NASA collects one hell of a lot more data than the Census Bureau. In fact,
they probably collect MANY hell of a lot mores.
They still have data on 7-track tape. Well, actually they probably don't.
But they do have the tapes.
