The moral of the story is: If there's a risk of hitting anyone, or
anything that's particularly valuable, either move to another drop-spot
and/or post lookouts to keep the curious at a safe distance.
I will add that I maintain a pretty strict set of guidelines for any drops
that I happen to do. Anything that might cause permanent damage (other than
to the item being dropped, of course) is right out, as is anything that
poses an uncontrollable risk to life or safety.
Sorry to hear about the fellow's car, but I'm glad he was cool about it.
