Yes, I know, bad thing to follow up on one's own e-mail, however, I
just thought about something... an incorporated users group might be a
bad idea in that it would lead to attempted computer preservation
related activities by committee (and we all know how useless and
annoying committees typically are), and people would end up squabbling
over group politics, etc., spending more time on things pertaining to
the group itself, than on hacking and preservation, which would be a
bad thing. Also, once corporate sponsorship gets involved, unless
there's a rule in the charter against such, it could become all the
more of a tangled mess with the group doing what's best for certain
business interests. How long before it would deteriorate into the
Microsoft Historical Software Collectors Group or some such?
