just mount it, set def to the directory and then do a dir. But why don't
you look at my OpenVMS-Howto (www.freddym.org/en_vmsht_fnc.html)? Basic
things are described there. And there are some other good VMS-Howtos on
the Net.

It's very easy. Important dir's are sys$system (System Files and
executables in it) sys$startup (Startup files) sys$update (Files such as
vmsinstal ...)
