They're just text. Part of the specification for a .cfg is that it have a
descriptive name in it.

Like this sample excerpt from !bus4201.cfg:

BOARD
  ID = "BUS4201"
  NAME = "BusLogic 32 Bit Bus Master EISA-to-SCSI Host Adapter (v2.00)"
  MFR = "BusLogic"
