You never seen how they were made then.

Believe it or not vacuuming can create damaging ESD for sensitive
boards like core drivers and even TTL!

Correct there. The core plane is fragile.

A lot of the PDP-8s have lived in industrial enviornments and offices
where clean air is unheard of. Many really are filthy.
