Oh, the first machine I bought was one of those (before that I used my
brother's VIC 20). It had the ROMs from a +3 (which had a disk drive) but
the hardware of a +2 (which had a tape drive). I bought a drawing package
once, which was available on a tape for +2s and a disk for +3s- I got the
+2 version because I didn't have a disk drive, but the software didn't
work because of some incompatibility between the software and the +3 ROMs.
I also bought one of those thermal "bog roll" printers, only to find that
it wouldn't interface to the I/O port on my machine (at least I managed to
get a refund on that).
I still have a +3 in a drawer somewhere, but absolutely no disks for it...
