Yes. Somwhere along the VS3100 to VS4k / DS5k way the pinout was
changed. So the later DS5k PMAX are identical to AFAIK the VS4k{6,9}
pinout, that does not match the VS3100 / VS II GPX pinout. But I may be
wrong here. Have a look into the DEC cable page at the VAXarchive.
