I have recently taken apart one of those NEC 9 to 15 pin adapters to
give some basic details to someone who needed to build their own.
Basically just a pin patching with a ganged signal moderator
(resistors).
The NEC 9 pin monitors that went onto it were all multisync. The adapter
wasn't used onto the NEC video cards with the 9 pin outlet. The
multisync II were 640x480 16 colours max (I believe - I have two
floating around but only use for basic text screens).
