Hands down, the best time to see the museums in DC is Christmas eve. The
town is deserted. My family and I have turned that day into sort of the "let's
go to
the Smithsonian day." Last two years have been great. We were actually able to
park our vehicle on the street next to the mall. That's basically unheard of any

other time.
