I just this week used a expired Amazon.com certificate I got a year or so
ago for some survey, and it was supposed to expire in 30 days. California
law says nyet on expiring.

OTOH it could be fraud. I know I've seen a few of the Compusa tech support
cards at swapmeets (sold in increments of minutes, not actual help).
