   lead-screw -widely used
SA800, 3.5"
   Voice coil -complex but very fast,
persci
   spiral cam -slow and could be cranky
SA400, others
  Band positioner - fast reliable as implemented not cheap. TEAC FD55
series

The feature of the day for SA400 was low cost.
