Jerome Fine replies:

As a software person, I can't help with the tape drive.

But your comment about fixing the hardware is interesting.

I find that my personal experience with software is about
the same - I enjoy fixing the bugs plus enhancing the
software I use (I am an RT-11 addict) more than just
using the programs. Although I must admit that I have
found that some of the enhancements I have made to
the Single Line Editor (SL:) as well as to the Binary
Compare utility (BINCOM) have been extremely helpful
when I use them to help with other work.

Sincerely yours,

Jerome Fine
