no 4th color = 20% tolerance
      Silver = 10%
      Gold = 5%

  so 5% of 820 gives...lesse, pi to the 4th, carry the 9, umm.. 41!

  The resistor should have a value between 861 down to 779.

  Allowing for a bit of inaccuracy in your DVM... I'd say it was pretty
well nailed on value.
