Trust me, I'm the wrong guy to be involved in a discussion on curtailing
your collecting habits. I collect anything and everything computer. I
consider myself an archivist, and see everything as part of the record. I
have an Intel cafeteria food tray in my collection for gawd's sake.

I have no place in this discussion ;)

I will say that if you want to be like me, or feel yourself becoming like
me, or you ARE like me, and still haven't come to grips with it, the trick
is to accept it, find cheap storage space (most important), and be
prepared to spend a lot of the rest of your life managing your collection
and figuring out how to make it pay for itself.
