  Hmm. I was thinking that the 550 needed RAM cards in pairs, and I was
right. However, the diagnostics info says the 55L doesn't. Cool. I
may even have spare RAM cards, as well as the SIMMs. I'll look, if you
want. No CD drive? Finding bootable CD drives are a PITA. Plextor is
your friend. ;)

  Um. You'll need to boot far enough to find what version you're
running, anyway. The version on tape has to be a fair match to get
maintenance mode.

  Sridhar, do you know a way to boot AIX in single-user mode without a
mksysb tape or a BOS CD?
