Well, depending on what area you are in, and how good/poor/new/old your
telco's installed cables are, it could be that during certain times of the
day when there's peak traffic you get worse performance (resulting from
all sorts of factors including cross-talk, interference, even the
atmosphere). So at 4-5am I would expect better performance than during
peak telephone hours (normally 9-5ish).
