Other than specific format, they are supposed to be compatible...
I know I can read/write and transfer between DDS-1 on both TLZ06 (Seagate
drive) and HP 6000 (Mitsumi DDS-2 drive) without problems.
Before CDRW became common, I've used uncompressed DDS-1 tapes as an
interchange media quite a bit with almost no problems.
