That's not true... I ran Ultrix 1.1 on our 11/730 scads of years ago
(known on the UUCP maps, c. 1986, as ...!cbosgd!osu-eddie!k-panda)
My employer ordered it at the DECUS it was announced at. When I was
using it, it had 5Mb of RAM and the standard RB80 (121MB) disk. It
was the first machine I ever did a UNIX install on. It spent its
last few years in service (up to 1993) running VMS 5.0. I have it in
storage now. I have the Ultrix tapes at home, AFAIK (I'm sure I have
2.0. I'm not as certain about 1.1)
