-> I have (amongst other machines) a Compaq Prolinea 3/25

I just scrapped one of these machines a couple of weeks ago.

-> When I open the case, over the memory banks is a
-> shield with: 'don't remove this' on it..

The one I saw had "COMPAQ MEMORY EXPANSION
                        DO NOT REMOVE"

I wondered about it also. Necessary for proper airflow was the only
functional explanation I could come up with. ???

-> I intended to add ram to come to 8 Mb, but I have only
-> standard simms available.
->
-> Would standard stuff fit in the sockets?? (I was told
-> Compaq is generally non-standard!);

Likely will not work. The unit I scrapped had 4 4meg modules, and they
wouldn't work in several machines and mobos I had laying around (other than
the 3/25). I suspected beforehand that they were proprietary.

The SIMMs were in two matching pairs (all ECC)

First pair: Samsung KMM594000AQ-7 with 9 x KM41C44000AJ-7, Compaq #
141124-001, # on Compaq Bar Code label is *22102*

Second pair: Micron Technology MT3019M-7 CQ with one MT4C1024DJ-7 and two
MT4C4001DJ-7, Compaq # 141124-001, # on Compaq bar code label is *43044*

I scrapped the 3/25 because someone had already removed the floppy, hard
drive, and power supply . I also have the mobo, but it needs a new CMOS
battery (I cut the old one off because it was starting to leak).

If you are interested in the SIMMS or the mobo contact me off list.
