That's a pretty good idea. But it can add significant weight to the
package, whereas foam peanuts do not.

Fedex Ground is cheaper (by a significant margin in many cases) but make
sure they don't charge you a pick-up fee when you drop off the package at
a Fedex drop-off point (this happened to me).
