My favorite method of backing up windows machines is to export the
directories or drives via smb, and mount them on a Linux machine as smbfs
network drives. I can then use plain old tar and a dat or dlt drive to
back up whatever I want. If I need to restore a machine completely, a bare
install of windows will do fine once the network settings are configured.
