I've actually seen it in operation, though I've not seen it smoke a
chip... I have one of the Heathkit Microprocessor Trainers (ET-3400)
and actually tried the instruction... and yes, you can see the address
lines incrementing (one of the exercises is to setup LEDs to watch
either data or address lines).
