Bulk Tape Eraser: Revisited

You can use your bulk tape eraser to degauss your TV. Just turn it on
several feet from the set and move towards the screen. Run it in circles
in front of the screen without touching it (to avoid scratching the
glass) - you'll see all kinds of pretty colors. Then, with the eraser
still on, move several feet away again before turning it off, to avoid the
momentary DC polarization as the field collapses.
