  I've found that not all MMJ-DE9 or -DB25 adapters are created equal.
I think some reverse the null so you can attach a modem. (Novel
concept, I know.) I also think that there's some other, um, weirdness
involved. My 11/93's console is DB25, as is the Altos 580, and I use a
VT420 on both. They take different MMJ-DB25 adapters. I picked up a
handfull of 3rd-party 25-pin adapters awhile back, and they are not all
the same, so I haven't been motivated to pinout the difference.
  Usually when I'm having terminal emulator problems, it's either the
modem control settings or the speed. But since the VTx20s are more
portable than my PC, I haven't fooled with it much in a long time.
