I think most people wouldn't mind all of the off-topic posts if they could
look at a message, and tell from the subject line if it has anything to do
with classic computing (the subject of this list, in case anyone has
forgotten). The time consuming part is going through the messages, trying to
pick out relevent information like picking gum out of your hair. So why
doesn't everybody who is going to post an off-topic message simply prefix
the subject with OT, the way they're supposed to in the first place. It's so
simple for the person posting the message, and would address most people's
complaints about off-topic posts. People could even set their mail client to
automatically delete messages that include "OT" in the subject line.

Just an idea.
